Since the arrival of Covid-19, we have opted to forego the usual office’s ergonomic working conditions in favor of working from home with the other family members. This created a demand of the essential home office furniture to be secured in our living rooms.

For a while, we set up shop at our various household surfaces, including the dining table, kitchen bench, sofa, and occasional tables. Since we can’t bring our office supplies home with us, we need to set up our own productive workstations in our homes if we want to be able to work well while we’re there.

And now we’d like to refresh your memory with a few pointers;

Making Your Home More Productive and Healthy Workplace

  • Remove any potential sources of distraction, such as televisions within the office space.
  • Observe good posture to avoid discomfort in the neck, waist, and elsewhere. Avoid sitting on couches while using a laptop on a coffee table or your lap to keep from experiencing discomfort.
  • Whenever possible then a table and chair suitable for working would be appreciated.
  • It is recommended that your table be at least 120 cm wide and 60 cm deep.
  • An ergonomic mesh chair with a lumbar support and a height adjustability features in a workplace chair. A strategic application of both avoids neck and back problems.
  • Be sure to adjust your chair so that you can work in an upright position with both feet flat on the floor. You can then avoid spasms in your back and stomach.
  • To put it another way, the standard height of a home office desk doesn’t apply for a 9 to 5 workweek. After sitting at a dining or kitchen table that is 3 centimeters higher than usual in a chair of regular height, you may have discomfort in your upper body and midsection. Working from a chair capable of adjusting to the height of the desk may help with this problem.
  • Lighting is another key component of a productive office environment. Natural light from windows is preferable to artificial lighting. Effectively balance natural and artificial lighting within you home workspace. If the even daylight becomes too much to read by, equip yourself with a luminaire.  Simply because it doesn’t cause eye strain.
  • Ventilate your space on a regular basis.
  • Improve your focus and productivity with some nutritious munchies.
  • And don’t forget to take periodic breaks to stretch out those muscles and rev up that drive.
